Ruth Roman was born on June 22nd, 1939, on June 22, 1939 in Lynn Massachusetts. The actress is the eldest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. As a child, Ruth Roman's carnival-barker father died in a tragic way, which made her mother Mary Pauline (Gold) to be a waitress or cleaner in order for them to be able to survive. Ruth was raised in a poor neighborhood of Boston Massachusetts where she enrolled in the school. She left the school she was attending just two years later in order to pursue a career as an actor. It was a difficult path to take. Although she got a job in New York posing as a woman for a magazine, no theatre jobs were offered to her. Following a short time as a club hat girl after which she decided to come back to her home in Massachusetts and leave the job she was working in. She worked as an usherette in the mornings and appeared at the New England Repertory Company by night, which was her first permanent acting gig. She also studied drama and later graduated from the Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
